A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per fess Azure and Gules, a Korean bell Or. Attached below the shield a Gold scroll inscribed AUDENTES DEUS IUVAT in Red letters.
Red and yellow are for Artillery. The blue is the color of the Korean service ribbon. The bell is the great Kyong ju bell, a Korean national heirloom. The bell and combinations of colors symbolize the organizations service in Korea as Field Artillery. The motto translates to God Helps The Bold.
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 980th Field Artillery Battalion on 17 June 1954. It was redesignated for the 215th Armored Field Artillery Battalion on 29 October 1954. It was rescinded on 21 June 1961.
